Comprehensive Plan

A city's comprehensive plan is a guiding vision for the future growth of a city. The land use element of a comprehensive plan helps support Zoning Regulations and informs City Council, the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the public about the long term vision the community shares for its future.

Imagine Irving is the City of Irving's Comprehensive Plan.

It was adopted in 2017, and the land use categories were updated in 2023. The future land use map is updated regularly as specific sites are reviewed during zoning change discussions or as part of focused Neighborhood Planning efforts.

2013 Urban Center Master Plan

The City of Irving and the Las Colinas Association are working together to transform the Urban Center into a vibrant, walkable district where people can live, work, and enjoy.

The plan focuses on:

1. Creating a pedestrian-friendly environment with better walkways and public spaces.
2. Attracting businesses to keep Las Colinas a top corporate destination in the Dallas metro area.
3. Expanding housing options for young professionals, families, and seniors.
4. 
   

With this effort, the Urban Center will continue to be a premier business hub while becoming an even better place to call home.
