Become a Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard!
The City of Irving Parks and Recreation Department hires Red Cross-certified lifeguards, ages 15 and older for summer seasonal positions, 16 and older for year round part-time positions and 18 and older for full-time year-round employment at its aquatic facilities.
Lifeguards are in the business of safety and prevention, making them ideal candidates for medical or first responder college programs. In addition to enforcing all the rules and regulations of the pool, lifeguards are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the assigned facility. Irving lifeguards also get a lot of customer service experience, such as answering phones and completing sales transactions.
To maintain eligibility for employment with the Irving Parks and Recreation Department, all lifeguards must complete American Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification every two years. This one-day course, offered exclusively to returning employees of Irving Aquatics, ensures your skills remain sharp, your knowledge stays up-to-date with the latest safety standards, and you're prepared to respond confidently in any aquatic emergency.
