Zoning Cases

The City of Irving receives many requests to change the zoning (the rules for allowed land uses) of properties.

The process for most requests:

  1. Reviewed by city staff, notifications sent, and report created
  2. Presented to and considered at a public hearing by the Planning and Zoning Commission
  3. Planning and Zoning Commission makes a recommendation to Irving City Council at the first public hearing.
  4. Ultimately, the City Council determines at the second public hearing whether a requested Zoning Change should be granted.

Descriptions of each Zoning District can be found in Chapter 2 of the Unified Development Code (UDC).
