Water Utility Locates


Before any construction or digging, contact Irving Water Utilities and the Texas Excavation Safety System at least four business days before starting the project.

Utility locates mark the location of underground pipes, cables, and essential infrastructure before any digging or excavation begins. This required safety step helps prevent service disruptions and costly damage.


How It Works

The Water Utilities team uses specialized equipment to identify and mark underground utilities with paint and flags before excavation. This ensures lines are not broken, avoiding service interruptions for residents and businesses.


Contact Irving Water Utilities

Request to locate City of Irving Water and Wastewater Infrastructure. Locates should be requested four business days in advance. Water Utilities may request a representative be present at the time of the scheduled locate.


Franchise permit numbers are required for all locates requested by franchise utility companies. Locates will not be completed without the issued permit number.


All lines will be located in approximate area of main. Such locating does not absolve excavators from the responsibility for damages to lines regardless of the accuracy of the locate or whether or not the city provided such service. It is the responsibility of the excavator to protect the water and sewer facilities during the course of work and to promptly notify Water Utilities at (972) 721-2281 of any damage to these facilities.


The form needs to be filled out in its entirety or the request will not be completed.
