The City of Irving will replace sidewalks that were removed due to waste-water repair. The City of Irving will pay half of the cost to replace deteriorated or broken sidewalks. The other half must be paid by the property owner. To inquire about sidewalk call (972) 721-2201.

Streetlights are owned and maintained by Oncor. Residents should report outages directly to Oncor at (888) 313-4747 or by visiting the Oncor online reporting tool. Repairs normally are made by Oncor within 10 to 15 working days. For more information, visit the Oncor website or call us at (972) 721-2646.

Residents can report potholes, street repairs, or other related problems to the City of Irving by calling Traffic & Transportation Streets Division (972) 721-2201 during normal business hours. Emergency or hazardous conditions can be reported to Police Dispatch at (972) 721-2518 after business hours and on weekends.

The City of Irving Traffic & Transportation Department maintains street signs and pavement markings on all primary streets maintained by Irving. For questions or concerns about signs or pavement markings, or want to report damaged or missing signs, call (972) 721-2646 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The City of Irving sweeps all streets with curbs once a month to keep roadways clean. Streets are swept on a rotational basis as weather permits.

To report any signal malfunctions, call (972) 721-2646 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After hours, call (972) 721-2661.

The City of Irving trims tree limbs that extend over city streets on an as-needed basis. Dead trees or those that pose a hazard on city right-of-way are removed by street maintenance crews. Residents that are property owners are responsible for trimming shrubs and tree limbs that block sidewalks.

  1. To report an emergency such as street blockages due to fallen trees, call (972) 721-2201 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  2. After hours and on weekends, call Police Dispatch at (972) 721-2518.

To prevent tree limbs from damaging or falling on electrical lines, or report tree limbs that has fallen on a electrical line call Oncor at (888)-313-4747.

Public transportation is provided to Irving residents by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and the Trinity Rail Express (TRE).

If you encounter an obstruction that blocks visibility at intersections or along city streets, call the City of Irving to investigate visibility problems at (972) 721-2646 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The city's Traffic Division will determine if the obstruction can be trimmed or removed.

The City of Irving will remove graffiti from traffic control devices, public and private property free of charge.

Yes, a Residential Building Permit is needed to repair your driveway. Permits are issued by the Inspection department and can be reached via phone at (972) 721-2371 or emailed M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The property owner and/or tenants are responsible for maintaining the alley or easement free from high grass, weeds, trash and debris, as well as trimming tree branches back for 14-feet clearance.
