Stalker SAM Speed Trailer

Ensuring safe and efficient travel in Irving – our Stalker SAM Speed Trailer gathers real-time data to help target speeding issues and protect our community.

The Stalker SAM Speed Trailer is a specialized mobile tool used by the Irving Police Department’s Traffic Unit to monitor and reduce speeding. Equipped with advanced radar and sensor technology, it accurately measures vehicle speeds and captures photographic evidence of violations when necessary. The data collected helps officers pinpoint high-risk areas and direct enforcement efforts effectively, contributing to safer roadways and reducing traffic crashes and fatalities.

When a resident reports a speeding concern, the Traffic Section deploys one of the three available trailers to the specified location, where it remains for about one week to gather speed data. The collected information is compiled into a report that details the location, the number of vehicles monitored, individual and average speeds, the number of vehicles exceeding the speed limit by 11 mph or more, and the overall percentage of vehicles speeding. These findings guide the strategic deployment of officers in areas of greatest concern. View the latest report here.
