Become a certified lifeguard. Irving Parks and Recreation hires Red Cross-certified lifeguards, ages 15 and older for part- and full-time summer and year-round positions at its aquatic facilities.
Blended learning combines online coursework with in-person skills sessions. Complete all eLearning modules, including the CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid exam, at least two days before your first skills session. The eLearning portion takes about 7 hours. Bring proof of completion.
Successful participants earn American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.
