An irrigation variance provides temporary relief from the standard watering schedule for situations such as new landscape installation or system repairs. When approved, the variance allows additional watering for a limited period, typically not exceeding 30 days, to support plant establishment or necessary maintenance.

To be considered, requests must include specific details regarding the reason for the variance, the area affected, and the duration requested. A site inspection will be conducted prior to approval and again at the end of the variance period to ensure compliance.

Applicant affirms that all information and documentation provided in this application are complete, accurate, and truthful to the best of their knowledge. Applicant agrees to comply with all applicable requirements of the City of Irving’s Water Management Plan and any specific conditions imposed as part of the variance approval process.Applicant acknowledges that all variance requests are subject to inspection before and after the variance period and that landscape irrigation is prohibited between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., regardless of variance status.Applicant understands and agrees that any variance granted may be revoked at any time at the discretion of the Director of Water Utilities or their designee if any of the following occur:(a) Violation of the terms and conditions associated with the variance approval;(b) Violation of any provision of the City’s adopted Water Management Plan or water conservation ordinances;(c) A change in circumstances such that the original justification for the variance no longer applies;(d) A significant reduction in water supply or evidence of water waste resulting from use under the variance;(e) Conditions arise that affect public health, sanitation, safety, or fire protection and require immediate revocation.By submitting this application, the applicant affirms understanding and acceptance of these terms and acknowledges that failure to comply may result in revocation of the variance and enforcement actions as permitted by City code.
