Get an Irving Public Library Card

There are several ways to get a library card with Irving Public Library!

Visit any of the three library locations during open hours to register. Visitors should bring photo identification with current address. See the list of acceptable forms of identification for ID options. Fees may apply for those who reside outside of Irving.

Need to place an item on hold quickly or just pick up that new card faster? Preregister online!

The preregistration number (SELFREG number) may be used to place two physical items on hold, which can be picked up along with the new card. A preregistration number may not be used to check out any items, including digital items.

After preregistering online, customers have 30 days to complete their registration by visiting an Irving Library location to present acceptable forms of identification and pick up the new card.

Irving residents who prefer not to visit the library in person may sign up for a card via email. See below for more information.

EMAIL REGISTRATION (IRVING RESIDENTS ONLY)

Irving residents may get a new card over email by following these steps:

  1. First, fill out the online Self Registration Form
  2. Next, email the assigned SELFREG#, along with a scanned copy or photo of each of the acceptable forms of identification to circulation@irvingtx.gov.
  3. Please write REGISTER IPL CARD in the email subject line.

The security of personal information emailed to the library cannot be guaranteed.

Please allow up to 48 hours for the card registration to be approved and processed. An email reply will be sent to confirm that the card is registered. The card will then be mailed to the resident’s registered address.
