Online MGO Permit Portal
- Online MGO permit portal: Use this to apply for permit, make payment, correspond with us, download the permit and approved plans, and schedule inspections.
- Validating: If validating onto a building permit (mechanical (HVAC), electrical or plumbing), email the Inspections Department. This cannot be done through the MGO portal. There is no fee to validate.
- Inspections: The deadline to schedule online inspections is 6 a.m. the business day requested. After 6 a.m., the next business day would then be the earliest to schedule inspections.

Applications (Use the Online MGO Permit Portal)
- Contractor Registration- Required to register as a contractor, such as: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, irrigation, sign, fence, general contractor, etc.
- Accessory Building - Required to build a shed, pergola, gazebo, arbor, and other detached accessory structures.
- For detached buildings, please fill out this Form and submit with the Residential Building Permit application.
- Addition - Required to add on to a building or structure.
- Annual Outdoor Parking Lot - Required for the outdoor parking of vehicles whereas parking is permitted upon payment. Permits valid from Aug. 1 through Aug. 31 of the following year. Use the "Miscellaneous Permit Application."
- Antenna Permit - Required for antenna mounted on buildings, existing towers or poles (co-locates). Use the "Miscellaneous Permit Application."
- Banner - Required to place a banner on a commercial property.
- Building Alterations - Required for general remodels, finish-outs, etc.
- Certificate of Occupancy - Required for any commercial space that will be occupied by a tenant.

- If you plan on selling alcohol, contact Planning Department at Planning@IrvingTX.gov or (972) 721-2424.
- Deck - Required to build a deck. (Use Patio Cover or Accessory Building if constructing a roof over the deck.)
- Earthwork and Tree Removal Permit - Required to remove protected trees or to fill, grade, or excavate property. For plan submittal for grading, please contact the CIP/Engineering department at (972) 721-2611. For plan submittal for Tree Removal, please the contact the City Arborist at (972) 721-2562.
- Fence Permit - Required to build a new fence or repair an existing one.
- Flatwork - Required for driveways, parking, or adding paving to a property.
- Foundation Repair - Required when doing foundation repairs.
- Generator - Required when adding a permanent generator.
- Health Permit - Health Plan Review and Food, Child-Care, and Nursing Home permits
- Health Temporary Food Event Permit - Application for temporary events involving food.
- House Moving Permit - Required to move any building or structure over 8 feet wide within or through the city.
- New Construction - Required for a new construction.
- Patio Cover- Required for patio covers, attached to a building
- Pre-Plat Civils- Required for civil reviews prior to platting. Do not use this for permitting new construction/buildings.
- Retaining Wall -Required for retaining walls over 30" in height.
- Roof- Required for roofing/reroofing over 1 square (100 square feet).
- Shell Building - Required for any new commercial shell building without interior finish-out.
- Siding - Required for any siding, stucco, brick or stone work on the façade of a building.
- Sign Permit - Required for any sign
- Sign Variance - For any variance to the sign ordinance and for digital signs or displays.
- Single Trade Permits - Electrical, Mechanical (HVAC), Plumbing, and Irrigation.
- Solar Panel - Required to install solar panels.
- Swimming Pool - Required to install/renovate a swimming pool
- Temporary Use Permit- For uses only allowed under the zoning ordinance for temporary uses, such as a Carnival, Circus, Christmas Tree lot, etc.
- Window - Required when replacing windows.
