1. Oct. 14:  IRV-05 , IRV-29 and IRV-59 . The Dallas County Health and Human Services has reported positive West Nile Virus samples from mosquito traps in these zones. The City of Irving will conduct a truck-mounted ultralow volume (ULV) fogging from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., Oct. 14-17 in these areas, weather permitting.

1. Oct. 4:  IRV-01 and IRV-46 . The Dallas County Health and Human Services has reported positive West Nile Virus samples from mosquito traps in these zones. The City of Irving will conduct a truck-mounted ultralow volume (ULV) fogging from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., Oct. 7-10 in these areas, weather permitting.

1. Sept. 27:  IRV-15 . The Dallas County Health and Human Services has reported a positive West Nile Virus sample from mosquito traps in this zones. The City of Irving will conduct a truck-mounted ultralow volume (ULV) fogging from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., Sept. 30-Oct. 3 in this areas, weather permitting.

1. June 4:  IRV-14 and IRV-20 . The Dallas County Health and Human Services has reported a positive West Nile Virus sample from mosquito traps in these zones. The City of Irving will conduct a truck-mounted ultralow volume (ULV) fogging from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., June 5-7 in these areas, weather permitting.

1. May 29:  IRV-19 . The Dallas County Health and Human Services has reported a positive West Nile Virus sample from mosquito traps in this zone. The City of Irving will conduct a truck-mounted ultralow volume (ULV) fogging from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., May 30-June 3 in this area, weather permitting.

Mosquito spraying in Irving is based on positive West Nile virus findings or when trap thresholds, based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), are met. Spraying targets areas near positive traps to help limit the spread of disease.

Spraying is just one prevention measure, and residents are urged to follow the Four D’s for protection. Spraying takes place overnight, typically from 10 or 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

The pesticide degrades quickly and there is no accumulative or residual effect. However, for people concerned about exposure during spraying, health officials suggest the following precautions:

1. Minimize exposure: avoid being outside, close windows and consider keeping pets inside while spraying occurs.
2. Wash exposed skin and clothing with soap and water.
3. Rinse homegrown produce.
4. Cover small ornamental fish ponds.
5. No special precautions are needed for outdoor swimming areas due to the rapid breakdown of the chemical.
