Crime Reports + Mapping
The City of Irving’s Crime Reports and Mapping program is a multifaceted public safety resource designed to enhance transparency and empower residents with timely, detailed crime information.
Speed Trailer Data
The initiative provides access to specific data related to the city’s speed trailer program, offering insight into traffic enforcement and safety measures on Irving’s roadways.
Unified Crime Report (UCR)
Rooted in a tradition that began in 1929 with the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the UCR program has long served as the foundation for collecting reliable crime statistics. Although the reporting system is now transitioning to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), the website continues to offer historical UCR data—up through 2019—so that residents can review standardized crime information.
LexisNexis Community Crime Map
At the heart of the program is the LexisNexis Community Crime Map. This tool not only displays crime incidents on an interactive map but also connects law enforcement with the community. Residents can view real-time alerts about recent crime activity and gain access to detailed metadata, including the reporting agency and source links. This feature is designed to help the public make informed decisions about personal and community safety.
You can see the source of the crime data for any incident by clicking on the incident on the map. The information window lists the "Agency" that provided the information. The Metadata tab also lists the source and links to each source's Web page for the incidents that are currently in view.
Through these integrated components, the program supports a clear and straightforward communication channel between the Irving Police Department and the public. It reinforces the city’s commitment to transparency by providing a centralized platform where accurate, up-to-date crime data is readily accessible. The program empowers residents to understand local crime trends and take proactive steps to protect themselves and their neighborhoods.
